Online entertainment ticketing platform BookMyShow has introduced a new feature called Movie Mode that aims to improve the last mile experience for customers who are about to watch a movie.
Through this feature, BookMyShow will offer customers easier access to all the information and tasks they typically do before watching a movie in a card-based timeline interface, a day before the movie starts.
This includes faster access to their mobile ticket by surfacing the QR code card or the booking ID card, map directions to the cinema theatre, seat details, improved food & beverages ordering process and simplified discovery of restaurant deals around the cinema hall among others.
The feature appears on the app home screen 24 hours before the customer is about to watch the movie, offering them an option to switch to the movie mode. It will be available across all cinema theatres listed on the platform, BookMyShow co-founder and director Parikshit Dar told ETtech.
Going forward, the company is working on integrating ride-hailing players for cab bookings through the movie mode. While BookMyShow didn’t disclose further details, it currently has a partnership with Ola that enables users to book a ride after booking their tickets.
Also in the works is an auto-silent mode that automatically puts the phone into a silent mode whenever the user turns on the movie mode.
“Until now, the experience of movies on BookMyShow revolved around users being offered a platform to book tickets and assuring preferred seats with them. As we dug deeper into observing the journey of our customers through the whole movie outing experience, we realized that there were a few pain points at different touch-points which could be solved on the product” Dar told ETtech.
