A Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) set up to study the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019, has invited comments from stakeholders.
Those who want to submit their views must do so in three weeks. The submissions would form part of the records of the committee and will be treated as confidential, the notice said.
Those who wish to appear before the committee can indicate that in the submission.
The JPC was formed under the chairpersonship of ruling Bhartiya Janata Party’s Meenakshi Lekhi in December with 30 members — 10 from Rajya Sabha and 20 from Lok Sabha. Since its formation, two members have resigned from the Committee.
The Committee is expected make its first report to the Lok Sabha by last week of the Budget Session 2020, according to the Lok Sabha memo that announced the Committee’s composition.
