Political parties in Bihar are using digital platforms to stay in touch with their cadres ahead of the assembly polls.
The ruling JDU’s senior leaders, including district presidents and MLAs/MLCs, have started using ‘Facebook Live’ to highlight the state government’s achievements, particularly the management of migrant workers at quarantine centres.
“It was a good experience for me after getting connected with people through Facebook. Users sought details about ration distribution. I replied to their questions,” said Arun Manjhi, president of JDU’s Patna district unit.
He highlighted his government’s achievements, including management of migrants at the quarantine centres and implementation of ‘Nitish ke Saat Nischay’ (seven resolves of Nitish). JDU’s Buxar district president Vindhyachal Kushwaha said he highlighted the government’s plan to provide jobs to migrants, besides other issues.
“We got overwhelming response from people in our ‘Sunday Samvad’ programme,” said Amardeep, head of the JDU’s media cell. However, he could not provide the number of users who connected to the live sessions.
Meanwhile, BJP state chief Sanjay Jaiswal is spending a good part of his time daily interacting with party functionaries through video/audio conferencing. “BJP is now trying to get digitally connected at the booth level” Bihar BJP spokesman Nikhil Anand said.
RJD’s Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha said: “Our only focus is on relief operations during the Covid-19 crisis.” RLSP spokesman Madhaw Aanand said: “We are trying our best to ensure proper use of digital platforms.”
